Investment objectives and policy guardrails

Understand the two save actions in Investment Objectives and how to enter your policy guardrails.

Quick actions

Jump straight to the place that usually fixes this.

Open Settings → Preferences → Investment Objectives to review your experience, risk tolerance, primary goal, time horizon, concerns and the help you want from Midas Edge.

Save Changes saves those objective preferences. Save Policy is a separate action for the Investment Policy Statement: its risk setting, tax sensitivity, benchmark, limits, review date, objectives, rationale, restrictions, factor ranges and notes. Saving one section does not save edits in the other.

Until you save a policy, Policy adherence explains that it needs an Investment Policy Statement. The displayed defaults are a starting point for review, not evidence that you already saved a policy or that its limits are appropriate for you.

Max position % and Minimum cash % use percentage points. Enter a ticker in Benchmark ticker. Policy objectives, restricted sectors and restricted tickers use comma-separated lists.

Target factor ranges uses one row per factor: factor name, minimum, target, maximum, optional rationale. The field's example value,-0.2,0,0.4 demonstrates the format; it is not a recommended allocation or limit. A blank numeric position omits that bound. Avoid commas inside the optional rationale.

Review the section you changed, use its save button and wait for the success message. If saving reports an error, your visible draft remains available to correct and retry. Leaving or reloading before a successful save can discard unsaved edits.

These preferences and guardrails support portfolio review and policy checks. Saving them does not place a trade or rebalance your brokerage account. Missing portfolio data can limit the checks available; review coverage alongside the result.
